DaMaris B. Hill is an Assistant Professor of English/Creative Writing and African American Studies at the University of Kentucky. She earned a PhD in English-Creative Writing and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Kansas. While earning her terminal degrees, she also served as a program assistant for the Institute on Digital Research in the Humanities at the University of Kansas and a collections specialist for The Project on the History of Black Writing. Her creative work has appeared in: Meridians: Feminism, Race, Transnationalism, Tidal Basin Review, Blue Island Review, Shadowbox, Tongues of the Ocean, Kweli Journal, Telling Our Stories, Sleet Magazine, Reverie, Bermuda Anthology of Poetry, Warpland, Mourning Katrina: A Poetic Response to Tragedy, and Women in Judaism.
